Title: [He has been from England about 5 years. He]Description: He has been from England about 5 years. He spent a good deal of time at the Hague where I made his acquaintance at Sir Joseph Yorke's. He came here by way of Denmark and Sweden; He is very intimate with Sir James Harris and is now making his rounds amongst the nobility here. It is probable his acquaintance will be usefull to me in some way or other as he interests himself very much and has done since we met at the Hague. He has made a collection of several things in my way during his stay in Denmark & Sweden. I find, Sir, by my brother's letter that you have been much out of order but am rejoiced to learn at the same time that you journey to Bath seems to have quite reestablished your health. There are some mineral springs in the southern part of this country which of late are very much reported to something in imitation of Bath and where many people are said to have found great benefit in different disorders. When you let me hear from you again do pray, Sir, tell me something about Farr & Charles. How they do and what they do. What line of life has Charles chosen or is he still at Oxford. I should like exceedingly to taste tomorrow of the Sundays fillet of veal at Q.S.P. but I do not mean to return like the prodigal son to eat of the fatted calf. Fain Hon d Sir Your dutifull & affectionate Son S.B. 1780 ) S.B. Petersburgh Nov ) to ) Q.S.P. Q.S.P. S t Petersbourg 21 t November 1780 We have had frost and snow for a fortnight the rivers all frozen over but what but seldom happens in this country it has thawed so much for this week past that it became dangerous to pass the river and it was expected a little that it would entirely break up again last night however the frost is returned and most likely will stick by us for the winter. As to myself nothing has happened to determine absolutely my stay here or my departure for Sweden or other parts of this country.

Title: [Queen's Coll. Dec. 10. 1760 Dear Sir]Description: Queen's Coll. Dec. 10. 1760 Dear Sir, I was favoured with Your Letter — My little Pupil's Verses were indeed very pretty for one of his Years: Yet perhaps they would have been still better, had he been sooner settled in his own Room. If I mistake not, they were begun only on the Monday preceding the Thursday on which they were shew'd up. — I mentioned to him what You writ in relation to his getting a Pair of strong Shoes made to wear in very wet weather. — You may depend on my Endeavours to keep him to his private Studies in the manner You desired.— Your Desire to have him spend his Christmas Holy- -days with You in Town, will be very readily complied with: And the kind Invitation You give me to the same place, is extremely obliging; but I am afraid it will hardly be in my Power to accept of it at this time. I am, Sir, Y. r most obed. t hble Serv. t J. Jefferson

Title: [S t. James's Aug. t 4 th 1783 Sir]Description: S t. James's Aug. t 4 th 1783 Sir I have receiv'd the honor of your Letter, and am very sorry I was prevented from having the pleasure of seeing you when you called at the Offices; on your return to Town I hope I shall be more fortunate. The very distinguished character which your son has so very deservedly acquired will make me very desirous to recommend it to my Son to cultivate his acquaintance and intimate friendship, and there are so few young men who endeavour to acquire useful knowledge that those who do have a just right to every possible encouragement, and I shall be happy if I can in any shape be of the least use to Mr Bentham; and I shall hope he will find my son deserving of his acquaintance and friendship, and I shall take the the liberty to desire you will give him a Line of Introduction when I have the pleasure of seeing you. I am with great Truth & esteem Sir Your ms t obed. t humble Servant W m Fraser. To Jeremiah Bentham Esq r Datchet near Windsor Free W m Fraser.
