Lawyers interest

Praise and dispraise be

In regard to marks of approbation and disapprobation, praise and dispraise /blame/, honour and dishonour, what the interest of the greatest number requires is that the force /strength/ of approbation praise and honour bestowed upon the body of the law /system of law/ /political rule of action/ taken in the whole and in all its several parts should be in the direct ratio of its aptitude /contributoriness/ with relation to such greatest happiness; the disapprobation, dispraise or blame, and dishonour in the direct ratio of its inaptitude, and so in respect of the class /disposition and conduct/ of men officially or professionally connected with it as above

In regard to these same points what the particular and sinister interest of the fraternity of lawyers requires is, that the force /strength/ of the approbation, praise and honour bestowed upon the system of law taken in the whole and in its several parts should be in the inverse ratio of its aptitude and contributoriness with relation to the greatest happiness of the greatest number; and so in respect of the disposition and conduct of the men belonging to this same class /fraternity/ being the men officially or professionally connected with that system as above.

The more consummate the depravity of the system, the more urgent the demand for a supply of praise on the part of all concerned in any way in making the most of it and applying it to the purpose [...?] of the sinister sacrifice.. of praise for the purpose of blinding the eyes of, all those whose interest is the subject of that same sinister sacrifice: causing them to regard the evils produced by it as so much good, and as far as that is not possible to regard the evil produced by it as the irremediable result of the unchangeable nature of things and accordingly to regard as their fondest friends their most irreconcilable enemies.
