Ch. IV.

1 Judges of Judges

Verses 21. 1 to 5. That he &c. are stewards of the mysteries of God, yet, as he does not judge himself, nobody should judge him.

8 ‘Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.’ Self contradictory nonsense or jealousy? Serious or ironical?

Contrast between his bad circumstances, and their good ones —exaggerated — this not to shame them but to warn them. In the plural he speaks quere whether he means? 9 to 14.

Instructors they have ten thousand:he their only father. ‘Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me’. 15. 16. Jealousy

The belly is for meats but the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord. 13. A man and a harlot are one body: do and the Lord one spirit .. 16. 17.

1 Verses 13. Principal matter, exhortation to excommunicate a man who fornicated with his father’s wife.

Verses 20. No litigation before the unjust (1.) unbelievers (6).
