Religion - Delusion

I Anxiety to cover up vices of King and Queen. Wilberforce shares in it

This indefatigable supporter of Corruption in its foulest forms this man who when he has seen that half the money received is received on false pretences, that it is for the receiving of Our money on those other false pretences the Holy Ghost is pretended to be received can pronounce on the [...?...?] assertion Oh excellent Church!

Evils! Incalculable evils! and from what? From two persons with or without a few others, being known to be as /what/ they are: from their not being supposed to be /regarded as being/ what they are not, in a word from the more extensive disclosure /exposure/ of a system of imposture

And so by the very confession of this man, concurred in by 391 others against 124 (22 and 23 June 1820) the attachment of the people, to the Monarchical form of government has for an indefinitely large proportion of its basis /foundation/ a delusion, produced and kept up by imposture. It would vanish was /were/ it generally known what sort of persons men and women in the situation of Monarchs really are: it would vanish, if men and women in that same situation were not generally believed to be what they are not.

But interests! [...?] interests! such is the modern cant phrase

And if they were known to be exactly what they are what of that?

It would vanish if enemies /adversaries/ perpetual necessary and irreclaimable adversaries were not generally regarded as fast and zealous friends: if men determined by the unchangeable constitution of mans nature, to sacrifice to the utmost of their power every body to self were not generally regarded as being at all times determined to sacrifice self to every body.
