Ch. 122 Sea appearance

Place, the shore of the sea of Tiberias

Though by Synopsis placed before this is here placed after the appearance on the mountain at Galilee: […?] this was the place he had appeared.

Nathanael of Cana in Galilee. By this meant probably the man in whom there was no guile supra Ch ||. but whose name is not among the 12 in any one of the 3 lists

{The disciples knew not that it was Jesus} Why this incognoscibility thus repeated? Answer – to inculcate the proponents to belief without evidence.

{He said unto them cast the net &c.} They take him for a stranger: and yet they impute to him the same miraculous knowledge of the fishing trade the manifestation of which was as per Ch || one of the miracles[?] of Jesus!

{a little ship} A boat is in this history always called a ship.

{That disciple whom Jesus loved}. This of chief proves that he was John Zebedee.

{They saw a fire of coals &c.} Pic-nic dinner Jesus found fewel and bread: the disciples fish

{This is now the third time} By this any greater number is negatived: in direct contradiction to the other Evangelists. He speaks of but one of those of which they any of them speak. He knew not of, or would not confirm these stories.

{Jesus said to Simon Feed my lambs &c} This together with the power to forgive sins, the inculcation of credulity &c seems literally conclusive evidence that Johns Gospel was a recent fabrication of the Church of Rome

{By what death Peter should glorify God} Another token as above

{Disciple whom Jesus loved} again

{Tarry till I come} In the forgery was this inserted, in order (by the circumstance of Johns great age of which the […?] remained) to confirm the assertion thus contained in it of his being the author?

{We know that his testimony is true} i.e. I know that this &c

Ch. 122.

Fourth, fifth or sixth or seventh appearance: viz. to seven disciples at the sea of Tiberias. A dinner at which they provide fish; he bread and firing. Commission to Peter to feed sheep and lambs.
