Lawyer's interest

In the hands of individuals the most powerful and extensively applicable instrument of evil in the shape of injustice, is mendacity © relative mendacity: opposite to that vice is the virtue of veracity a virtue of the negative or abstinential class consisting in the abstaining from that vice. /the practice./ What the interest of the greatest number in this behalf requires is © that relative veracity be as abundant relative mendacity as rare as possible

On the other hand, and for the corresponding and opposite and corresponding reasons what the interest of the lawyer class requires © is that relative mendacity be as abundant as possible: that therefore as little as possible be done towards the prevention /exclusion/ and reppression of it, and by themselves as well as others as much as possible be done towards the introduction /production/ of it.
