1. Oppositio - Opposition. This is manifestly a species of Relation.

Of Opposition the Aristotelians distinguish four different modes, of which presently.

2. Prioritas. Priority. This again is another sort of Relation.

3. Simultas: another Relation: viz. that which takes place between two objects which with relation to each other are contemporary: i.e. exist in or during the same point or length of time.

Note that Priority can not have place without posteriority: no object can go before matter which is going likewise but this other must come after. Yet of posteriority nothing is here said.

4. Motus. Motion. In the field of thought and action this is an object of the most important and most extensive use.

Of all the ten predicaments there is not one, Substantia excepted, whose title to a place upon the list seems so incontrovertible, as that of this article. As to its make[?] - it is, as well as substance - matter - body, among the objects of which quantity and quality are predicable: like substance it ought to have preceded both these predicaments.

Action - actio the 5 th. of the predicaments is but related to it as a species to its superordinate species of motion.

Like substantia substance, and on as correct a ground, motion, denotes an object, of which quantity, as well as quality are predicable │ │ itself substantial exempt[?] (so to speak) to be susceptible of quantity and quality.

For its non admittance into the list of predicaments what possible reason can [...?] have presented itself?
