Enumeration is the exhibiting the nature of the class of thing characterized by any name, by bringing to view the names of certain subordinate sorts of things, or even certain individual things which it is meant to signify. - It may be compleat or incompleat.
Enumeration is arithmetical or systematical. Systematical enumeration is by Division, or rather accompanied with and performed by Division.
Enumeration is the gathering up & naming of the parts which result from the division of the whole.
bringing to view any number of objects their[?] [...?...?] at the same time if in written discourse on the same substratum employing at the same time for distinguishing one from another the names of numbers in the order in which they stand in the numeration table. This will serve as an exposition of any generic name under which they are all of them comprehended.
Suppose exhaustive analysis upon a fictitious whole, take away the words designative of the steps in the process, thereupon remain the several words which are the result of the last divisional operation performed. Apply to them respectively the words included in the numeration table beginning at n o. 1 and you have the enumeration of them.
The word implies compleatness
a tacit assumption is that all the individuals which the purpose requires to be brought to view are accordingly brought to view. This is the case when the orbit[?] the is prefixed to the name of the individual in question unless the [...?] thing is expressed.
