Each party /The man on each side/ has moreover an argument when a Corruptionist in possession /expectancy/ which, without much prejudice to his /its/ reputation for sincerity he is /feels himself/ at liberty to make the most of. Whatsoever in corrupt hands might be the tendency or effect of the pretious matter in question if in corrupt hands, in our hands there is no danger in it, for our hands are pure ones.

From the lips of an /a sincere/ advocate of the subject many if in such a place /situation/ any such advocate could be found one short /simple/ observation would remove all difficulty on the subject of quantity and reduce the corruptionists of both classes /sections[?]/ to silence. So applied as you concurr both of you /are both of you for applying it/ in the practice and endeavour quantity is out of the question - it is by the whole quantity of it that it is too much. Not a single particle of good does /is it in the nature of/ any quantity of it, great or small, so applied, to produce: not a single particle of it is there by which in greater or less quantity mischief is not produced.
